Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine, Huddinge conducts preclinical and clinical research in a variety of areas and undergraduate and graduate education. The department is internationally oriented and consists of seven units with about 60 teams.

The position
We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join the research group of professor Eva Hellström Lindberg as a biomedical analyst /scientist. The work will be carried out at the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM), and will involve studies of cellular and molecular mechanisms of normal and malignant hematopoiesis with a special focus on myelodysplastic syndromes.

Recent studies from our groups on this subject encompass Woll, et al., Cancer Cell 2015; Dimitriou, et al, Oncotarget 2015, Mortera Blanco, et al. Blood, 2017.

The research environment
The research group is based at the Center of Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM), Karolinska Institutet. HERM consists of 16 research groups and approximately 100 people and is a nationally leading and internationally competitive environment for studies of hematopoiesis, blood disorders and the human immune system in the context of malignancy and infectious diseases. The vision is to become one of the leading translational research centers in Europe within this field. The environment offers state-of-the art cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry and microscopy facilities. Entry requirements and skills
To qualify, the applicant should at least have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biomedicine, molecular cell biology, immunology, or equivalent. Applicants should have knowledge and adequate training in laboratory techniques, biotechnology, molecular biology or equivalent and also have previous experience of independent work. Specific knowledge and experience of working with primary human blood and bone marrow cells is mandatory, and knowledge about flow cytometry analysis is considered a strong merit. The candidate will work closely with foreign researchers. Computer literate and proficiency in English is required for the tasks. The position requires experience with the above described methodologies but more important is a capacity for problem solving, high ambition, and collaborative and communicative skills.

We are looking for a positive person who is thorough, well organized, service-oriented and flexible. The candidate must be highly motivated, have good communication skills, and ability to interact in a dynamic group in collaboration with international teams. You are expected to have a strong drive to perform translational research and be instrumental in the elaboration of experimental design and methodology.

Duties
The successful candidate has documented experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques as well as experience in taking care of common routines required to run a successful research lab. The work will involve advanced biobanking of primary blood and bone marrow cells, DNA and RNA isolation, as well as other cellular and molecular techniques with relevance for the projects. We expect the candidate to take interest in and responsibility for developing improved and novel methods.

Terms
This is a full-time appointment. At Karolinska Institutet a 6-month trial period is required for all permanent appointments. The positions is available immediately.
