Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Onur Dagliyan’s Group at the Division of Molecular Neurobiology. The lab is looking for electrophysiologists who are interested in the studying molecular mechanisms by which mice learn and keep information in the brain. The lab’s research focus is to uncover experience-driven protein signaling mechanisms in the mouse brain by developing new technologies and to reveal mechanisms how impaired neuroplasticity emerge in neurodegeneration. The Dagliyan Lab is funded by European Research Council (ERC), Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), Svenska Sällskapet för Medicinsk Forskning (SSMF), The Brain Foundation (Hjärnfonden), and others.
More information can be found at https://ki.se/en/research/groups/dagliyan-lab The Dagliyan lab is located in the Unit of Molecular Neurobiology, composed of outstanding scientists applying interdisciplinary approaches to cutting-edge problems in a collaborative and stimulating environment. The unit is part of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics residing in a new research building for Biomedical Research, Biomedicum, providing modern technological platforms and an open environment for interactions across departments and disciplines. While the principal investigator will work hard to achieve your career dreams, your mission will be to unravel molecular mechanisms of learning and memory in the mouse brain during behavior. The project starts with the slice electrophysiology experiments and will continue with in vivo molecular profiling experiments. The recruited fellow is expected to play a leading role in experimental design, experimentation, analysis, as well as presentation/publication of results. You will also work with the collaborating neighbor laboratories to learn and adapt new techniques including single cell and spatial transcriptomics and genomics, protein engineering, 2-photon imaging, in case you do not have experience with the particular approach. You will also have a chance to collaborate with the scientists who are pioneers in their fields.
The applicant shall hold a PhD degree. The applicants with patch-clamp or local field potential (LFP) experience are preferred. The applicant needs to have a high degree of independence and motivation but also should have will to be a dedicated team member. Fluency in English is a requirement.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
