The position is located within the The Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK). The department carries out preclinical and clinical research within numerous fields. Linked to the department are approximately 600 researchers, postgraduate students, teachers and technical and administrative staff.

Description of the subject area

Our translational research program is focused on designing therapies for the treatment of immunological diseases. The Research Scientist will join our dynamic Stockholm-based team and play a vital role in the discovery and evaluation of new therapeutic biological products. Our expanding program offers several opportunities to lead projects from the benchtop and into the clinic. 

Your mission

We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive, passionate, and collaborative individual who shares our determination to solve problems in medicine.

As a Research Specialist you are responsible for: 

  • Write protocols and perform experiments in the laboratory
  • Summarize and maintain databases of research data
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Use graphics and statistical software to analyze data Interact and collaborate with other researchers in the lab environment and present data to the management team
  • Drive scientific discussions Ensure equipment maintenance and quality control 

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Required qualifications for this position: 

  • Doctor of Philosophy degree in immunology, biotechnology, cell biology, biochemistry, structural biology, or a related biomedical field of study with a minimum of 3 years (PhD) of experience working in academic research or in a R&D division at a pharmaceutical company
  • Strong technical skills in performing and analyzing multiparameter flow cytometry
  • Experience in culturing of immune and cancer cells
  • Technical skills in T cell activation and mixed lymphocyte reaction assays
  • Ability and willingness to learn new concepts and techniques 

Assessment criteria

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Strong knowledge of immunology
  • Experience with protein characterization techniques including SDS-PAGE, western blot, ELISA
  • Hands-on experience with antibody design and functional characterization
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature
  • Experience in preparing scientific reports and presentations
