Your mission

The position entails conducting research to analyse uncharacterised proteins that are specifically expressed by endothelial cells and to identify their function within the vascular system. The project will involve various biomolecular techniques such as recombinant protein expression, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. Responsibilities include making conceptual and methodological contributions to the research projects, experiment planning and execution, data analysis, student supervision, and result communication.

This is a temporary, full-time position for one year.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

We seek a candidate with the necessary background and skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate independence, take initiative and with prior experience of student supervision. Additionally, applicants should exhibit strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities as well as effective communication skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology
  • A background in the study of vascular endothelial cell biology and processes underlying coagulation/thrombosis
  • Extensive prior experience in the design and production of diverse recombinant proteins, bacterial culture, protein analysis techniques (including size exclusion chromatography and crystallography), enzyme activity measurements and primary endothelial cell culture
  • Experience of designing and using assays to measure the coagulation potential of plasma and whole blood on endothelial cells in vitro
  • Proved experience in writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals of high-quality scientific papers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
