The position regards experimental research in model animal that will be conducted in Dr. Marie Carlén’s research group, the department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. The hired person will work in a team of lab members in a project investigating how the prefrontal cortex (PFC) in the frontal lobes is involved in learning. The project encompasses a range of technologies and analysis signifying systems neuroscience.

Your mission

The person we are seeking to hire will work in close collaboration with our lab members, particularly in project parts involving circuit tracing, and be responsible for certain parts of the project, particularly in vivo circuit tracing, harvesting of tissue, tissue slicing and postprocessing. An important part is different tissue detection methods (IHC, in situ hybridization etc) and image acquisition and analysis using custom software.

Your profile

We are seeking a person with a master’s degree with relevance to our research activities and previous experience of lab work in a basic neuroscience setting. Experience of mouse work, transgenic lines, and the work outlined under Your mission is a necessity as is certification for work with research animals in accordance with Swedish legislations. Experience of viral circuit tracing is meriting as is programming skills and work with mouse behavior.
