Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The successful candidate will work in the wound healing research group headed by Dr. Ning Xu Landén. The group belongs to the Division of Dermatology and Venereology, Department of Medicine Solna, and is physically located at the Centre of Molecular Medicine (CMM; https://www.cmm.ki.se/). The research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups. The group has extensive experience in non-coding RNA research with well-established methodologies for studying the expression and function of non-coding RNAs in skin wound healing.

Your mission

The chronic non-healing wound is a common and severe medical problem with unclear pathogenesis. The discovery of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) as powerful gene regulators provides hope in the quest to develop novel RNA-based treatments for a wide variety of diseases; however, the role of ncRNAs in human skin wound healing remains largely unexplored. We aim to reveal the expression and functional signatures of ncRNAs (primarily focusing on microRNAs, circular RNAs, and long ncRNAs) in human skin wound healing, and to identify ncRNAs that may be targeted in wound therapy. The current method spectrum of the group is centered around molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry with human cells and tissues as well as mouse models but will be expanded.

We are looking for a research assistant who will implement bioinformatic approaches to analyze data generated with various high-throughput technologies to profile expression and modification of RNAs, RNA-protein-DNA interactome, chromatin accessibility and DNA methylation in human skin/wound tissues and cells. The work will include design of study, data processing, quality control, statistical analyses, data interpretation and presentation of findings in the form of scientific publications. We offer a very stimulating and welcoming working environment in a group of motivated co-workers with diverse competencies.

Your profile

Required skills of the successful candidate are:

  • A master degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Single-cell transcriptomics, or a related discipline including where sufficient bioinformatic expertise is demonstrated in life sciences.
  • Firm knowledge in Unix/Linux, R or Python.
  • Experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
  • Experience in big data management.
  • Knowledge of relevant biological areas (chromatin and gene expression, genetics and epigenetics).
  • Excellent knowledge in biostatistics.
  • Experience in genomics data mining and visualization.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality scientific outputs with a strong publication record.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently but also as a part of a large team.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and good communication skills.

We will look favorably upon if the candidate has experiences in one or more of the following areas:

  • High-throughput screen deconvolution (genome editing including CRISPR-based, etc)
  • Single-cell transcriptomics
  • Comparative genomics
  • Systems biology
  • Integration of multiple genomics, epigenomics or proteomics datasets
  • Modelling of biological systems s]
