We are looking for an epidemiologist/research coordinator who wants to work in a dynamic environment at the intersection of academia, healthcare, regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Centre for Pharmacoepidemiology (CPE) at the Department of Medicine Solna, conducts academic research on drug safety, drug effectiveness and drug utilization and carries out projects on behalf of regulatory health authorities and pharmaceutical companies in the area of pharmacoepidemiology. A large part of our research is based on data from the national registers at the National Board of Health and Welfare and Statistics Sweden, as well as corresponding registers and observational health care data from other countries, especially the Nordic countries.

CPE was established in 2005 and has become a leading player in the pharmacoepidemiology field in Europe and is now one of the largest academic pharmacoepidemiology centres in Europe. CPE has many international collaborators and participates actively in Nordic, European and international consortia.

About 15 employees and a number of affiliated researchers work at CPE. At the moment, at least 35 research projects are ongoing. Your mission

We are looking for an epidemiologist/research coordinator who has experience in Nordic register-based research, preferably in the pharmacoepidemiology field. You will work with commission projects, mainly Post Authorization Safety Studies (PASS), in close collaboration with other project team members, including statisticians and project leaders, in which you will contribute with your epidemiological expertise in the planning, execution, and final reporting and dissemination of the project results. You will also be an active part of CPE’s academic research project team by providing key input into relevant research questions, study design and methods, and lead the writing of grant applications and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. There will also be opportunities for teaching and supervision of students. In your role, you will represent CPE as the lead contact with external partners from the academia and the industry.

Your profile

We are looking for you who have a background in medicine, pharmacy, or other similar education and/or experience which has provided you with a good understanding of clinical diagnoses and drug treatments.

It is a requirement that you have a PhD in epidemiology, and preferably experience in pharmacoepidemiologic research and strong knowledge and experience using data from Swedish registers and/or their equivalents in other Nordic countries. You must be well acquainted with epidemiological study methodology and appropriate statistical methods.  

You have excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language is a merit.

Writing scientific texts in English is one of your strengths, as is proficient communication of scientific results with external parties in a variety of settings (e.g., project team meetings, conferences, etc.).

As an individual, you are self-motivated, responsive, positive and driven. In the assessment of applicants, demonstration of initiative and cooperative skills in previous work places will be of the utmost importance.
