Annika Bergquist’s research group has a focus on clinical and translational studies in the field of liver diseases related to primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). We are now expanding toward analysis of bigger datasets to study various aspects of the disease ranging from diagnostic, prognostic and more basic biology that require both good statistical and graphical skills. The ultimate goal is to improve patient’s management and provide new biological insight about PSC at the highest international level. For this, we offer a work environment located inside the hospital at the closest proximity to the patients and clinicians performing these investigations. World unique cohorts and datasets have been constituted over the last 20 years and are now fully available for exploration. Proximity and interactions with basic researchers studying various aspects of liver diseases is also part of the translational aspect of the position.
Your main role will be to perform a broad range of exploratory and explanatory analyses of registry, clinical and biological data. This will be done using small or very large cohorts, case-control or longitudinal settings. You will have the opportunity to directly interact on a daily basis with clinicians and researchers studying PSC to discuss, solve problems togethers and answer key clinical and biological questions. At our department, you will have the opportunity to learn, engage and participate in various research forums, outside as well as inside the department.
You have, or will have at the start of employment, a PhD with experience in a broad range of exploratory, explanatory multidimensional analyses as well as related graphical representations. The use of R and experience in interactive data display would be a strong advantage.
The candidate should be self-motivated and curious to solve clinical and fundamental biological questions to increase knowledge on PSC and patient’s benefit. Previous experience and knowledge about liver disease is not required but is an advantage. The candidate should be structured and organized, independent, good team player, open-minded and willing to explore new ways of analysis.
