LCBKI is one node in CBCS (Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden), a national infrastructure for chemical biology (www.CBCS.se) at Science for Life Laboratory (scilifelab.se). CBCS operates in a highly collaborative fashion in projects with users, offering a platform for the identification of chemical tools (bioactive small-molecules) for all fields of life sciences (molecular-, cell-, structural biology and microbiology, pharmacology; natural product and environmental research etc.). LCBKI offers collaborative service and guidance within assay development, small-molecule screening and hit to chemical probe optimization
We are seeking a versatile biologist skilled in assay development and small molecule screening who will help CBCS in its mission of identifying, developing and optimizing high-quality small molecule tool compounds for academic researchers
The activities will include establishing and performing primary screening assays with the aim to develop and optimize specific small molecule probe compounds. Activities will also include evaluating different assay formats and establishing high throughput and high content screens. You will be responsible for managing projects in close collaboration with researchers from diverse backgrounds and delivering high-quality data.
Eligible applicants will have a well-documented track record of relevance to the employment. Previous experience of both biochemical and cell-based assay development and small molecule screening from pharmaceutical industry or academic screening centers is especially meriting. You will need a strong passion for daily experimental work and an aptitude for analyzing, managing, interpreting and reporting high quality screening data. Laboratory automation experience and an ability to troubleshoot screening equipment including robotic liquid handlers and plate readers will also be considered valuable. The successful candidate must have a staff scientist mind set, be service minded and dedicated to high quality and reproducible data production, have very good interpersonal and cooperation skills, be flexible and capable of working independently in a structured and efficient way. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English are essential as well as documentation skills and use to work with electronic lab notebooks
The position is placed at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics under the Research Division Chemical Biology, located at Scilifelab, where you will work closely in a team of biologists and medicinal chemists within a vibrant research community, to enable chemical biology and drug discovery innovations.
