Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The research group

The student will join the research group of Professor Jonas Bergh at the Department of Oncology-Pathology under the supervision of Associate Professor Theodoros Foukakis. The research activity of the group is in breast cancer, spanning from clinical trials to translational research and molecular biology studies of the disease. The group was recently relocated to the new research building BioClinicum in Solna.

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The project will focus on the characterization of the genomic and transcriptomic profiles of HER2 positive breast tumors treated in the randomized phase 2 clinical trial PREDIX HER2. The studies will involve both clinical correlative analyses for biomarker discovery and biological insights through analysis of biospecimens collected longitudinally during the course of study treatment. The specific tasks include the analysis of next generation sequencing data (whole-exome sequencing and RNA-sequencing) from the clinical trial, statistical analysis, and data management under the supervision of a senior bioinformatician.
