The postdoctoral position is placed in the breast cancer surgery research group at MMK with Ass. Prof. Jana de Boniface as project leader.
We aim to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in clinical breast cancer management and research. The project will focus on the measurement and assessment of patient-reported outcomes in two large prospective European trials. Since both trials (the SENOMAC trial, www.senomac.se, and the AXSANA trial, https://eubreast.com/?Trials/AXSANA) are surgical trials, in-depth knowledge of locoregional treatment, in particular surgical staging and treatment in breast cancer, are important prerequisites for the postdoctoral position. An important goal is to assess the impact of different surgical axillary staging and treatment methods from the patient perspective, using questionnaires and potentially patient interviews. The appointed person will be expected to model the data analysis plan with the support from a biostatistician, perform data analyses, participate in the supervision of PhD students, and actively engage in national and international cross-border communication. Active engagement in the process of designing and modelling new trials in the area is expected.
Since the postdoctoral position is not full time, it is of particular advantage if the appointed person can prove or obtain a concurrent clinical employment; expected activity level in the project is 30-50%.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants are required to have completed a PhD degree or higher in a field related to the position. We are especially interested in candidates with prior in-depth experience within clinical management of breast cancer patients, with a special focus on breast cancer surgery. Publications within the field of clinical breast cancer research and specifically aspects of breast cancer surgery, health-related quality of life and/or arm morbidity are highly meriting.
