The candidate will work in the research group of Professor Petter Höglund, a translational immunology group working on natural killer (NK) cells, immune responses to platelet transfusions and blood transfusion practices in hematology patients. (https://ki.se/en/medh/petter-hoglund-group) The group is looking for a motivated, well-organized co-worker to serve as lab manager across the group’s various projects.

Your mission
The duties in the group entails organizational and administrative tasks, keeping track on day-to-day routines, including daily support functions in the lab, administration associated with chemical and biological work, introduction of new members in the group, organization of group meetings and representation of the group when the group leader is not present. It is expected that the lab manager keeps track of funding possibilities for group members and assists the group leader in communication tasks both internally and with collaborators. Performing laboratory work is included in the position, including all aspects of an immunology lab, such as molecular biology, cell culture and flow cytometry. The pursuit of possible independent projects will be encouraged if time allows.

Qualifications and entry requirements
Applicants must have adequate university education in biomedicine or cell biology, a PhD degree and several years of postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate is very well-organized, responsible and likes to work in a dynamic environment with diverse tasks and takes pride in providing service to others. The applicant should have practical experience in standard molecular biology, cell biology and flow cytometry techniques. Good collaboration skills, independence, communication skills and computer skills are required.

Advanced flow cytometry experience is required and experience from work with both mouse and human cells is necessary. Previewed work with platelets is a merit. Knowledge in the use and administration of electronic research documentation is required and experience with chemical registries (such as the Swedish KLARA system) and risk assessments is considered an advantage. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required. Experience in translational work and communications with clinical partners is advantageous.

Unit
The Center for Hematology and Regenerative medicine, HERM is a research unit within the Department of Medicine Huddinge with a focus on translational hematology and immunology. HERM is located in the NEO building and consists of a mix of clinical and preclinical research groups, each with a focus on clinically relevant questions in hematology, stem cell biology and immunology, including basic immunology, immunodeficiency and transfusion immunology.
