Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

The Neogi research group at the department of Laboratory Medicine, aims to identify the molecular mechanism of viral adaptation in the host and identify novel biomarkers of natural immune control against RNA viruses using multi-omics technologies and experimental assays. We aim to identify the components of the immune response that are required for natural immune protection and disease severity that can be translated into the future development of vaccine and antiviral strategies against emerging and re-emerging viruses. The research team has both bioinformatics team as well as experimental team and works in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Your mission and your profile

Are you interested in host targeted therapy against pathogen? Come to join us to learn how our immune system interact with the viruses and we can explore virus weakness to eliminate it.

We are looking for a Post-Doctoral researcher for our research theme, the correlates of immune protection against RNA viruses, who will work mainly in the immune-metabolic modulation to limit the viral replication. A major focus of the work will be on virus-host cell interaction and to determine the signaling pathways that drive virus-induced disease biology. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills in molecular biology, immunology, protein chemistry, genetics, and/or cell biology. Preference will be given to those who worked with the viruses and immune modulation of cellular pathways in the cell lines. Expertise in the field of metabolism, loss-of-function screens and reverse viral genetics would represent a major advantage.

He/she will be a team player who can work closely with others to manage collaborative projects both within the lab and with our collaborators. The candidate will get the opportunity to work in highly dynamic and international environment with top-level collaborators from around the globe. The candidates are expected to be independent, self-motivated who can provide creative inputs and have leadership qualities with strong oral and written communication skills. The postdoc fellow is expected to assume a major role in the writing of scientific publications and grant applications and contribute to supervise PhD and master students in the group. Professional and personal integrities and flexibility in work scheduling are valued.

He/she should have achieved the corresponding scientific competence, with first-authored publications in internationally leading journals in the corresponding fields.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
