Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

The Department of Neuroscience includes several research groups working on different aspects of nervous system function, both under normal conditions and in various disease states. Research projects include a broad range of studies on the molecular and cellular levels, networks of neurons, and the organization of the nervous system as a whole. The Department has a flat organization with 40 research group leaders, of which 24 are full professors, and 65 PhD students. Teaching represents a fundamental activity at the Department, which participates in several undergraduate courses and postgraduate education programs. Each year approximately 15 students receive their PhD from our Department and many of our graduates have gone onto distinguished careers in the academic or private sector.

Division

The brain profiling group is part of the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and the main mission of the group is to investigate protein expression in all major brain regions and brain cells in human and other mammalian species. For this we are performing RNA sequencing and immunofluorescence analysis of brain samples.

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant to participate in a project characterizing gene expression in astrocytes and the groups main production pipeline focused on profiling protein distribution in the mouse brain. The research assistant will work independently and perform immunofluorescence stainings, analyze transcriptomics data, validate antibody specificity, operate slide scanning microscopes and processes image data.

This is a fixed-term positions for six months with the possibility of extension.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with Msc level education in genomics and biotechnology with a specialisation in neuroscience, molecular biology techniques, and bioinformatics. The candidate should be experienced in immunofluorescence assays (tyramide signal amplification) and fluorescence microscopy (epifluorescence and laser confocal microscopy).
