Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Our focus in molecular cancer biology is to understand the contribution of specific proteins in cancer development and epithelial mesenchymal transition/metastasis with special focus on their role in pancreas and breast cancer. The current project aims to investigate the role of specific proteins in the primary as well as in the metastatic process to establish if/how these proteins correlates to the stage of the disease. Also important is to investigate the molecular mechanism behind the effect of these proteins on the tumour microenvironment.

Current postdoc position

We are now seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow from an institution outside of Sweden to participate in our research project on molecular cancer biology. Successful applicants should have skills in molecular- and cell biology and well as cancer biology.

Applicants with experience in advanced cell culture, CRISPR cloning, advanced microscopy (confocal/automated microscopes), image analysis and animal tumour models are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with a strong publication record in basic research. Additionally, applicants should have good interpersonal- and communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work productively and dynamically in a team.

Self-motivation and the ability to stay on top of the relevant research field is a requirement. Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required.

Working environment

The Division of Pathology is part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet. Together with other departments we are located at new state of the art premises with e.g. advanced cell culture, flow cytometry and microscopy facilities.

The Division of Pathology is a dynamic and interactive research unit consisting of 12 research groups working with basic and/or clinical research in several areas e.g. cancer research, bone biology, regenerative medicine and epidemiological research. The division is also tightly connected to Karolinska University Hospital allowing for translational exchange between basic and clinical research.

Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Our vision is to significantly contribute to the improvement of human health. Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

Karolinska Institutet strives to provide a workplace that has approximately the same number of women and men, is free of discrimination and offers equal opportunity to everyone.

Type of scholarship

The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis.

Application process

The application should include the following documents in English:

1. Personal motivation letter.
2. Curriculum vitae, including date of degrees, previous positions, work experience, scientific publications and references.
3. A summary of previous work experience (no more than one page).
