Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

In our research group you will work with researchers conducting world-leading research on the occurrence and progression of inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). We work with integrating large-scale clinical information with molecular genetics, environmental/lifestyle data and registry data. This work relies on intensive local, national and international collaborations. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you may contribute to high-quality research on an international competitive level.

Your mission

We are now looking for a post doc who will work in an EU funded project, MultipleMS where we study MS with the aim to use genetic and lifestyle risk factors to identify stratified patient populations and to characterize them phenotypically. You are expected to work independently and formulate new hypotheses, handle databases, analyze data and write scientific papers. The position is for a period of 10 months.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

To be eligible, the applicant must also:

  1. Have a PhD in medical science in the area of genetics and molecular biology
  2. Have experience in handling large genetic datasets
  3. Have experience of computational analysis and genetic programs such as PLINK, IMPUTE
  4. Have programming skills for implementing custom data-processing workflows
  5. Have experience of genetic analysis of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis

Applications are invited from talented and enthusiastic applicants with advanced knowledge in the field of genetics, biostatistics and autoimmune diseases. The applicant will need to both feel comfortable with working in teams and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be independent enough to formulate new hypotheses and critically examine the results. You will be working in a collaborative project, MultipleMS, with research groups from Europe and US, so communication skills will be important.
