The Centre for Psychiatry Research (CPF), a division within the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, conducts high quality research into psychiatric disorders. The 22 independent research groups cover a number of fields, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, substance use, and suicide. At the Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive and related Disorders Across the Lifespan research group, you will find a unique opportunity to work closely with top researchers in the field. Our research program aims to understand the causes and consequences of anxiety and OCD and related disorders using a variety of methods such as genetic epidemiology and brain imaging. The group also conducts clinical research in children and adolescents with OCD and related disorders, as well as clinical trials and research into the dissemination of evidence-based treatments for these problems across the lifespan.

Your mission

We are seeking an outstanding candidate with relevant research expertise in OCD and related disorders. The main duty of the successful applicant will be to start and pursue an independent line of research within the field. The successful applicant will complement and expand the existing expertise in the etiology, consequences, and treatment of OCD and related disorders. Specific tasks will include project coordination, data extraction, data analysis, and the writing and publishing of original, high impact research papers. The applicant will have full access to the infrastructure at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at KI, as well as access to patient samples and to the Swedish epidemiological registers. Candidates will also be encouraged to engage in teaching activities within the university and serve as supervisors for PhD students, thus building their pedagogical and leadership experience.

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant Professor.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals that have an established scientific profile in the field of OCD and related disorders and a clear strategy for developing and pursuing an independent line of research in the field. Experience of at least 5 years in the field is desired. A strong publication record, preferably encompassing a variety of methods, from epidemiology to clinical trials, is required. Ability to obtain funding, as proved by previously funded research projects, preferably within this field of expertise and as principal investigator, is strongly desired. It is expected that the successful applicant has experience in supervising doctoral students and other junior colleagues. Documented pedagogical merits will also be valued. Proficiency in the writing of scientific texts, in English, is essential, as is a proven expertise in the use of analytic (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS) and word processing software. Clinical experience is also desired.

The candidate should be highly organized and self-motivated with ability to determine and meet the objectives, be able to develop and manage collaborative work effectively, and be comfortable having parallel activities. The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.
