Department for Biosciences and Nutrition, Pan-Hammarström (PHA)

The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Division
We are looking for a well-organized, skilled and highly motivated lab manager to work in the team of Professor Qiang Pan-Hammarström. The lab is located at campus Flemingsberg. For more information about the group, see https://ki.se/en/bionut/research-group-qiang-pan-hammarstrom

Duties
The main tasks are to coordinate and maintain activities in the laboratory on a daily basis, to support administrative work, and to supervise and train new members.

Specific tasks
- Perform laboratory experiments such as real-time PCR, sequencing, DNA/RNA
  extractions, cloning, western blot, cell culture, FACS, and CRISPR.
- Purchase and organize equipment, lab reagents and office supply.
- Inventory cells/cell lines and patient samples.
- Standardize protocols according to the needs.
- Assist with project and ethical applications.
- Support PI with travel booking and reimbursement.
- Support PI with administrative related issues in the research group.
- Support and train Ph.D students and postdoctoral fellows.

Qualifications
- Minimum ten years of experience in molecular biology in academic area.
- Experience in primer and probe design, cell culture.
- Experience with writing and publishing a number of research articles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and oral.
- PhD degree or equivalent.
- Experience in BiOVIA workbook (electronic lab notebook) is a merit.
- Service-oriented, excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills.
