The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

Christian Göritz´s group is studying physiological and pathophysiological functions of perivascular cells.

The successful candidate will examine the role of distinct perivascular cell populations in the context of blood flow regulation of the penis. The project encompasses mouse models for erectile dysfunction, mouse genetics, in vivo and in vitro microscopy, gene expression profiling and quantification of blood flow dynamics. The successful candidate will conduct research him/herself as well as engage in guiding students and postdocs in the project. Furthermore, the successful candidate will take on responsibility for common laboratory duties.

Entry requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in biology or related area. We expect the candidate to have a strong background in vascular cell biology, physiology and fibrosis as well as detailed knowledge regarding penile physiology/anatomy. Experience with animal models, in vivo confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, cell culture and blood flow analysis by Laser Speckle Contrast Analysis (LASCA) is highly valued.
