The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Your mission

We seek a cell biologist/immunologist motivated to work in translational research in the field of autoimmunity. The current project aims to produce monoclonal antibodies, characterize them and to understand their role in disease. Key tasks involve the use of B cell repertoire sequencing using primary cells from patients with autoimmune myositis and healthy donors, antibody engineering, affinity chromatography, transfection of cell lines, ELISA and cell culture including myoblasts and myotubes. All work will be performed within the multidisciplinary research group of Professor Ingrid Lundberg at the Center for Molecular Medicine (https://ki.se/personer/ingrid-lundberg) in close collaboration with the research group of Associate Professor Caroline Grönwall (https://ki.se/en/research/groups/b-cells-and-autoantibodies-in-rheumatic-disease-team-caroline-gronwall). The candidate will also be involved in several collaborations both nationally and internationally.

Your profile

PhD in biology or comparable with focus on B cell immunology and autoimmunity. Previous experience on producing monoclonal antibodies is beneficial. The candidate should have experience in ELISA, western blot, multi-color flow cytometry and affinity chromatography. Experience form cell culture work including myoblasts and myotubes is a strength.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
