Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Rydén and Mejhert lab aims to understand how alterations in human white adipocyte function are related to cardiometabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and coronary sclerosis. Our group consists of 15-20 members and has the infrastructure required to perform translational research, including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory and a clinical research unit.

Your mission

As a research technician in our pre-clinical laboratory, you will be an important contributor to our work. For this position, there are three main work tasks:

i) Characterize white adipose tissue biopsy material from clinical studies.

ii) Index and retrieve clinical samples/information upon request.

iii) Complete managerial tasks for the preclinical laboratory.

As the inflow of clinical samples varies over time, additional responsibilities, such as helping lab members with specific project-related assays, are also expected. Examples of these tasks are to complete mouse- and cell-based experiments using standardized molecular methods.

Your profile

To qualify, the applicant should at least have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biomedicine, molecular cell biology, pharmacology or equivalent. Applicants must have prior experience of working in an experimental laboratory. Knowledge in handling and characterizing biological samples, such as clinical biopsy material, as well as experience in managing sample inventories and ensuring proper documentation is essential. Proficiency in standard molecular techniques, including qPCR, cloning, and mouse work, is meritorious.

As the candidate will work closely with researchers with different backgrounds, proficiency in English (written and spoken) and excellent interpersonal skills are required for this position. The applicant should also possess strong organizational abilities, be detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. It is expected that the candidate will be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. The applicant should also be able to delegate tasks and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
