The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics are divided into divisions. Currently, the “Cancer Therapy” group at the division of Genome Biology, led by Prof. Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo has one Research Assistant vacancy.Their research focuses on phenotypic screenings aiming to find genes or chemicals that can be of help in fighting against age-related diseases currently lacking a cure.

Your mission

We are seeking an enthusiastic person who will work on a project where we establish cell-based assays for phenotypic drug screens in the context of age-related diseases such as cancer or neurodegeneration. The employment includes experimental laboratory work, data processing, data analysis and report writing. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will help in the training of younger students.

The position starts with a 6-month probation contract, which would be extended if this period is satisfactory for both parties.

Your profile

The candidate should have strong knowledge in cellular and molecular biology and hands-on experience in a variety of cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell-culturing, PCR and Western blotting methods. International work experience and medical experience are considered as strong merits. Documented knowledge of cancer biology is a bonus. Complete fluency in both written and spoken English is a request. Other skills such as writing and presenting capacities or social competence will be highly valued.
