DO YOU WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO RNA STRUCTURAL STUDIES IN MEDICINE?

Description of research group and project:

www.petzoldlab.com

Possibly more than 50% of the human genome codes for non-coding RNA. These RNAs are ubiquitous among all life forms and the mechanisms how non-coding RNAs regulate these cellular functions are largely unknown.

Our interdisciplinary research group is interested in understanding how RNAs adopt their structures to select specific functions in a pool of RNAs. We employ different biochemical and biophysical techniques (e.g. NMR, SHAPE), to investigate the molecular mechanism of RNA function (Nature 2012, 2015 & 2020). The team develops methodologies to address infectious diseases by investigating viral RNA and bacterial ribosomes as well as searches for new anti-cancer drugs based on microRNAs.

Your mission
The purpose of this position is to support the Petzold research group and our national RNA-NMR node with project coordination and administrative tasks. In particular, coordinating research projects, managing legal agreements, grant writing and reporting and coordination of grant proposals and collaborative research projects, which the team participates in.
