Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Svenningsson lab is a translational and multidisciplinary research group studying movement disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease, and depression. We use cellular and animal models and analyze samples and biopsies from patients. Our goals are to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying disease states, and to identify novel biomarkers and medically relevant therapeutic targets.  At the clinic, we do longitudinal studies on cohorts of patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, assessing both motor and non-motor symptoms. We also perform clinical trials with novel pharmacological therapies.

Your mission

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc, with an interest in translational Neuroscience and a strong background in animal models, neuroscience, pharmacology and/or behavioural studies to be involved in one or more projects investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the alpha-synuclein-mediated neurodegeneration.

Find some of our recent papers here.

The postdoc will use transgenic animal models and viral vector approaches of alpha-synuclein and related molecules for studying alpha-synuclein spread and neurodegeneration caused.

We expect the successful candidate to be able to significantly contribute to the planning and management of their project(s), as well as to the writing of manuscripts and navigation of the peer-review process.

  • Lead author in at least 2 peer-reviewed publications
  • Documented experience in animal model research techniques (e.g. motor, cognitive and affective behavior tests)
  • Documented experience in animal surgery methods, such as stereotactic surgery, intracerebral injections, transcardial perfusions, etc.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and data presentation
  • High level of self-motivation and independency
  • Work well with others in a team
  • Willingness to supervise or share experience with students
  • Very good command of written and spoken English

Desirable knowledge and experience:
