The Svenningsson lab is a translational and multidisciplinary research group studying movement disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease, and depression. We use cellular and animal models and analyze samples and biopsies from patients. Our goals are to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying disease states, and to identify novel biomarkers and medically relevant therapeutic targets. At the clinic, we do longitudinal studies on cohorts of patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, assessing both motor and non-motor symptoms. We also perform clinical trials with novel pharmacological therapies.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc, with an interest in translational Neuroscience and a strong background in animal models, neuroscience, pharmacology and/or behavioural studies to be involved in one or more projects investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the alpha-synuclein-mediated neurodegeneration.
Find some of our recent papers here.
The postdoc will use transgenic animal models and viral vector approaches of alpha-synuclein and related molecules for studying alpha-synuclein spread and neurodegeneration caused.
We expect the successful candidate to be able to significantly contribute to the planning and management of their project(s), as well as to the writing of manuscripts and navigation of the peer-review process.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
