Are you looking for a place to develop as a researcher, deepen your knowledge, and expand your skills? We can offer you a vibrant learning environment, ample opportunity to collaborate with great researchers, and a great deal of freedom to develop your own ideas. This is where you move from supervisee to supervisor!
A postdoctoral scholarship is available in the labs of András Simon (Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Karolinska Institute) and Nick Leigh (Department of Laboratory Medicine, Lund University). The research groups are looking for postdocs for joint projects.
This position will be located at the state-of-the-art Biomedicum at Karolinska Institutet. The research is focused on the mechanisms of regeneration in salamanders. Development of genetically modified salamanders and next-generation sequencing methods make it possible to understand the regenerative process at the molecular level. In this collaborative project, methods will be used that the two research groups have developed previously. The research is supported by several donors such as the European Research Commission (ERC), the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Swedish Research Council.
The postdoctoral fellow will interact closely with the two laboratories to analyze`omics data from regenerating tissue. Such data includes but is not limited to single-cell RNA sequencing, scATAC sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics. There is the possibility to combine in vivo and in silico analyzes.
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
We are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral fellow with a background in single-cell ‘omics analysis.
In close collaboration with others’ in the two labs, this fellow will be involved in generating animal models that allow for lineage-tracing of various tissues undergoing regeneration. The two groups are highly international and all project related communication is in English.
The candidate’s personal skills will be highly valued.
