The Meletis laboratory, Department of Neuroscience, has an open position for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the molecular organization of brain circuits, the identity of neuron subtypes, and how circuit structure determines function including molecular and circuit changes in brain disorders.
The research will focus on developing and applying molecular methods to define the identity of neurons and brain regions (e.g. snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics), methods to genetically targeting neuron subtypes in vivo (e.g. Crispr based viral methods), and approaches to define whole-brain connectivity using cell type specific monosynaptic tracing.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and collaborative environment whit a strong emphasis on applying molecular knowledge to understand function of neurons and circuits with state of the art infrastructure.
We expect applicants to have a strong determination to define the molecular organization of brain circuits, and collaborate in a systems neuroscience environment to promote a functional understanding of circuits. Extensive knowledge of data analysis/visualization, statistics and programming, are required.
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.
The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
