Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

We welcome applications for a postdoctoral position in developmental cognitive neuroscience in the research group headed by Dr. Terje Falck-Ytter, at the Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet (KIND)

Your mission

This position is tied primarily to the Preschool Brain Imaging and Behavior Project (PIP), which is a part of the Aims-2-Trials consortium (www.aims-2-trials.eu), PIP is a multi-center study involving 5 testing sites across Europe in which we assess brain based measures (MRI; EEG) and behavior (eye movements; cognition; executive function; temperament etc) in 3 year olds with autism, ADHD or ID as well as  typically developing controls. The participants are followed to the age of 6 years of age (longitudinal design). The postdoc will be supervised by Falck-Ytter, and will be further supported by an international team of senior and junior researchers within the Aims-2-Trials network.

The main task is to lead analyses for publication in peer reviewed journals, in collaboration with the supervisor/project team. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in project activities, including participant testing, quality control and coordination with other sites. The candidate will also have the opportunity to gain experience in training PhD students and contributing to grant writing activities. As such, the position provides an excellent opportunity for transition to career independence. While the PIP study is still ongoing, we have several related completed datasets from developing populations (clinical, twin) that allow for immediate analysis. More information about these additional datasets are available upon request.

KIND offers excellent research facilities (e.g. infant lab, direct access to patients), as well as outstanding ECR supervision. KI and Sweden offer many opportunities for building an independent line of research. These include world renowned training courses and many grant opportunities tailored for junior researchers. KIND will be fully supportive and keen to maximize opportunities for the postholder’s career development.

The student will also have the opportunity to conduct short research visits to other sites within the PIP network, and is expected to participate in consortium and project level telcos and meetings.
