The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions and is active in many areas of Laboratory Medicine. The department is involved in advanced basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research. The department is one of the largest departments of education at Karolinska Institutet.
Division
the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) is one of 6 divisions, where the project will be carried out. The Centre provides the facilities needed for cell- and molecular biology research and the possibility to perform research in vivo. The research group works primarily on oligonucleotide therapies and cell signaling.
Duties
The project will focus on developing a method for sequencing of genomic repeat sequences using NanoPore technology. The specific aim is to develop an efficient enrichment procedure using oligonucleotides.
Prospective candidates should be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Entry requirements and qualifications
The applicant should be a Bachelor in Science and have a solid background in molecular biology or pharmaceutical biotechnology. Practical lab experience is essential, especially in the following areas: use of oligonucleotides and DNA sequence analysis.
The applicant should have strong experience with bead enrichment and release procedures and the use of nucleases. In addition, excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English is highly desired. We are looking for an energetic and passionate person who fits in, and actively contributes to our team.
