The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.
Division
The research conducted at the WHO centre for research and research training in Human Reproduction headed by Professor Kristina Gemzell Danielsson focuses on fertility and fertility regulation, embryo implantation, endometrial function, steroid hormones, contraceptive technology, and comprehensive abortion care and global sexual and reproductive health. It includes academic clinical studies and clinical trials supported by pharmaceutical companies or NGOs and extensive national and international collaboration.
The experimental studies of the group focus is to explore the basics of female reproductive sciences at the molecular level to understand fertility and its associated disorders with the intention of translating the knowledge to clinical applications.

Project and Duties
The current project focusses on exploring the molecular link between endometriosis and ovarian cancer, with the overall aim to develop early diagnosis and treatment for women with increased cancer risk. Innovative aspects of this project involve integration of knowledge from traditional histology, use of advanced molecular tools and bioinformatic approaches to explore key molecular alterations (genetic and epigenetic markers) associated with malignant transformation.
Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology, endometriosis and a deep interest towards gynecological cancers. The candidate is expected to be relatively independent in the areas of experimental design, data gathering and analysis as well as manuscript preparation. The candidate must have basic understanding of sequencing platforms, competence on bio-informatic data analysis and computer skills. Also, the selected candidate will have the responsibility to supervise PhD- and Master- students with their thesis work. Hence, it is meritorious to have experience in handling clinical samples, cell/molecular techniques such as flow cytometry, real-time PCR, ELISA, in vitro assays for testing cellular behaviour and gene silencing techniques.
