Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized research assistant to support cellular immunology research and laboratory operations. The position includes:

  • Isolating and sorting T cells from human skin samples using multiparameter flow cytometry
  • Performing downstream molecular analyses, including preparation of 10x Genomics libraries
  • Supporting in vitro culture and stimulation assays of primary cells from human skin
  • Assisting with sample preparation and coordination of clinical material
  • Contributing to data documentation and quality control
  • Helping with day-to-day lab organization, reagent preparation, and ordering

We offer a stimulating and supportive environment for career development, with opportunities for international collaboration and academic growth.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A Master’s degree in biomedical sciences, immunology, cell biology, or a related field
  • Practical experience in flow cytometry, especially with primary immune cells
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Fluency in English and a strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively

A strong interest in immunological research and a willingness to learn and contribute to team-based science is essential.

Prior experience with human tissue or clinical samples, as well as familiarity with molecular biology methods such as library preparation or RNA handling, is considered a merit.

What do we offer?

A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. Our vision is to pursue the development of knowledge about life and to promote a better health for all. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several good benefits through our collective agreement. And you get to practice freely in our modern wellness facilities, where trained staff are on site.

Location

This position is based at the Department of Medicine, Solna, within the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM)—a nationally leading and internationally recognized research environment focused on tissue inflammation. The role is positioned in resarch group Liv Eidsmo, part of the Division of Dermatology and Venereology. The division promotes active interdisciplinary collaboration among research groups working in molecular and cellular immunology, supporting innovative approaches to both fundamental and translational research.

The Eidsmo group investigates the role of human resident T cells in chronic inflammatory skin conditions, with a particular focus on understanding the immunological mechanisms underlying the formation and persistence of localized disease memory in psoriasis and vitiligo. Our work aims to address this significant clinical challenge using state-of-the-art technologies, including flow cytometry of tissue-derived cells, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and advanced molecular and imaging methods
