We are looking for an ambitious postdoctoral fellow with a solid background in human cytotoxic lymphocytes biology background to join our highly accomplished team. We offer a stimulating environment in a rapidly moving research frontier. The successful candidate will be part of a cluster of other researchers working on similar topics.
The Buggert group conducts innovative studies on cell-mediated immunity in health, cancer, and viral diseases. These studies are translational in nature and involve the usage of cutting-edge bulk- and single-cell technologies, including high-parameter flow cytometry, gene-editing, mRNA delivery, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, TCR-seq, and proteomics analysis to dissect the heterogeneity and function of memory T cell immunity. Through these platforms, we study various aspects of human memory T cell biology with an overall aim to improve current immunological therapies for diseases.
The postdoctoral candidate will work with questions centered on the establishment of new mRNA delivery platforms to create CAR T cells. The candidate will work in close collaboration with different members of the group to set up killing assays in organoid cultures and apply gene-editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9) to mechanistically dissect different functions of CAR T cells. As such, we are seeking a postdoctoral candidate with a PhD, who will work as an integrated member of our team.
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.
The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
To be considered for a postdoctoral scholarship, in addition to holding a PhD in the field of biomedicine, the candidate must have demonstrated research expertise and documented research experience in the field of human cytotoxic lymphocytes.
It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has
- Been trained in immunology during her/his PhD studies
- Publications in the field of human cytotoxic lymphocytes immunology
- Statistical knowledge
- Generate high-parameter flow cytometry data
- Extensive human immune cell culture background
- Gene-editing technologies
- Fluency in English
It is meritorious that the applicant has
- Laboratory molecular and cell biology skill sets (e.g. preparation of RNAseq libraries)
After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to the positive development of the activities at KI.
Location: Flemingsberg
