The Högberg lab is part of the division for Molecular Systems Bioengineering at the department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Karolinska Institutet (KI). The lab is currently a diverse team of physicists, biologists, chemists and computational biologists. We offer a stimulating scientific environment and a top research infrastructure both locally, at the department level and institution level.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with an interest in method development within the field of DNA Digital Storage. Our team is a leading group in the field of DNA nanotechnology specialized in creating molecular tools for life-science research. We participate with the Dura-store project (https://durastore.eu) in the European Innovation Council’s Pathfinder Challenge for DNA-based digital data storage aimed to create a European research and development infrastructure for this technology. As part of the Dura-store project we aim to use bio-inspired solutions to address fundamental limitations of the current manifestations of the technology in terms of data stability and dynamic data operability in vitro and in vivo. If you are interested in helping us to move the technology’s capabilities towards that of conventional digital data storage, please apply.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
In addition to this if you fulfil at least a couple of the following criteria, you are encouraged to apply. In order of decreasing importance, you should:
Exciting research project with the clear aim to improve a technology with real life relevance with the expressed intention to pursue potential commercial exploitation of results. Additionally, as the Dura-store project is being a part of the European Innovation Council’s Pathfinder Challenge for DNA-based digital data storage, the candidate will have the opportunity to participate in building the European research and technological development community for DNA-based data storage with the other academic and industrial participants of the challenge. Our lab provides ample opportunity for creative persons to influence the direction of their project. Because of this we are looking for individuals that are highly motivated and aim to become independent researchers.
Working at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world's leading medical universities, you will be conducting your research in a creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. At KI, you get to meet researchers working with a wide range of specialisms and methods, giving you ample opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with the various scientific fields within medicine and health. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several benefits through our collective agreement.
