Your mission

We are currently looking for a Research Assistant that will play a key part within our research division focused on genome replication and cancer biology. To battle diseases such as cancer we need to understand the processes that drive cell division and DNA replication. The Lemmens and Bartek laboratories received a prestigious ASPIRE award for innovative cancer research to expand their work on DNA replication and cancer drug resistance. The ASPIRE II project involves various state-of-the-art genetic model systems and advanced imaging technologies. We seek an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our team and help validating our new methodologies and address fundamental questions in an accelerated time frame.

The responsibilities of the Research Assistant will be varied and include: 

  • Culturing and drug treatments of various human cell lines
  • Genetically modifying human cells by CRISPR technology
  • Performing diverse molecular biology techniques including PCR and chromatin fractionations
  • Assisting with high-content microscopy and FACS sorting studies

Your profile

We welcome applications from candidates with academic qualifications at least corresponding to BSc in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or other related fields. The successful candidate is a responsible, service-minded person with good communication and organizational skills who enjoys working with people and take pride in delivering work of good quality.

The work requires:

  • Previous experience of molecular biology techniques and laboratory work, including cell culturing, western blot and immunofluorescence staining protocols.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills as well as attention to detail
  • Proficiency in English, excellent communication skills and a service focus.

The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.
