The Urology Unit at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery focuses mainly on clinical epidemiological research on the etiology, prognosis, treatment evaluation and outcome of diseases and conditions in the urinary tract and male urogenital organs. We have a strong methodological background in clinical epidemiology and research using large clinical databases and healthcare and population registers.
The long-term goal of this project is to improve treatment for Lower-Urinary-Tract-Symptom (LUTS) conditions via a better understanding of the relationship between LUTS and psychiatric comorbidities. We use unique epidemiological data to dissect the genetic epidemiology of different LUTS symptoms and their association with anxiety disorders, PTSD, and ADHD in youth (<18 years of age). With the availability of large longitudinal data from the Swedish national registries and the advancement of statistical methods, now we are in a unique position to conduct this project and shed light on this association.
The Urology Unit is now recruiting a research specialist in epidemiology and biostatistics who will collaborate with our team in the data analysis and interpretation.
To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.
The applicant should have a degree within the area of epidemiology and/or biostatistics. He or she must have a strong background in data analysis from studies with epidemiological design.
