The research at our lab The Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology aims to yield new key information on the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is linked to multiple severe health consequences, including reproductive, metabolic, and psychiatric disorders. The research is translational, and in collaboration with others, we combine register-based, cross-sectional, and longitudinal clinical studies with different mice models.
The group works in an inspiring and interactive research environment in Biomedicum at Campus Solna (see https://staff.ki.se/biomedicum-for-staff) and has on-going collaborative projects with national and international colleagues.
The group combine in vivo and in vitro clinical and mice experiments with single cell multiomic sequencing of collected tissues to investigate epigenetic communication between germ cells, serum and somatic tissues aiming to identify molecular mechanisms underlying PCOS transmission to subsequent generations.
The postdoctoral applicant is expected to lead a project of single-cell sequencing of human tissue. The applicant will also be involved in mice projects investigating how transgenerational transmission of PCOS occurs by dissecting molecular mechanisms of epigenetic inheritance and causal links.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
We are looking for a passionate, highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a PhD degree in reproductive endocrinology and metabolism, developmental biology, molecular biology or related area. We expect the candidate to have a strong scientific background with relevant expertise in single cell biology and developmental programming as well as processing and analyzing single-cell sequencing data. Experience from in vivo animal work including reproductive and metabolic phenotypic testing of mice, Crispr/Cas genome editing, and handling of human tissue samples is a strength.
Priority will be given to the applicant with proven ability to work independently. The person should be a positive team player as postdoc in part will be involved in supervision of master and PhD students in the group. Moreover, good communication skills and good proficiency in spoken and written English are necessary and Swedish is a strength.
