Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious immunologist to join our team of highly accomplished immunologists based at the Centre for Infectious Medicine (CIM). The research interest is focused on tumor immunology and specifically the role of human Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILC) immunometabolism. We study how distinct ILC subsets adapt to their local tissue environment and perturbations that are caused by tumour development. Working in close collaboration with group of Associate Professor Jenny Mjösberg, the team of Dr. Chris Tibbitt offers an engaging and diverse environment where you will contribute towards high quality research (Tibbitt et al., Immunity 2019, Science Immunology 2021, Science Immunology 2017) on an internationally competitive level that involves both basic and translational immunology.

Division

Research at CIM focuses on studies of the human immune system. The vision is to be a world leading translational research centre within immunology.

Duties

Using the latest techniques in metabolic profiling and single-cell sequencing the candidate will map the metabolic profiles of human ILCs across a range of tissues and inflammatory conditions. The candidate will also perform multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, Seahorse, siRNA/ lentiviral ‘knock-downs’ and in vitro cultures using ILCs and T cells extracted from tissue samples. The individual will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment meaning excellent communications skills are essential. It is expected that the postdoctoral researcher will eventually supervise students and other researchers, as well as contribute to common lab duties.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have relevant university education and hold a PhD degree in immunology or equivalent. Another requirement is significant experience with multiparameter flow cytometry and have previous experience working with ILCs and/or T Helper cells. Moreover, knowledge regarding isolation of immune cells from tissues and metabolic assays (e.g. Seahorse, SCENITH, Mitotracker, etc) are a merit as are basic immunological assays such as intracellular cytokine staining, ELISA etc. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communications skills and a proven ability to interact effectively and work productively in an interdiciplinary team. Fluency in English is a requirement.

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

Location: Flemingsberg

Type of scholarship

The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.

Application process

An application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

  • A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
  • A complete list of publications
  • A summary of current work (no more than one page)

The application is to be submitted on the Varbi recruitment system.
