The Department of Medicine, Solna (MedS), is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. Among MedS core activities is research in different areas of biomedicine. MedS consists of several divisions organized into research groups, covering a wide range of areas whiting the field of biomedicine. The main profiles in MedS research are allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.
You will support the process of data curation and quality control. You will assist with hands-on analyses and visualization for the different research projects within the group and ongoing collaborations with other research groups at the Division of Rheumatology. You will participate in implementing technical solutions for more effective and efficient analytical approaches for biomedical data integration and mining. The position is located within the research group of Leonid Padyukov with team leader Lina M. Diaz-Gallo.
We seek a motivated, responsible, goal-oriented, team-player person with the ability to work independently and communicate in a multicultural environment. A person with a master’s degree in computer science or related is preferable. The candidate should have excellent knowledge of bash, python, R, singularity programming, version control and high-performance computing. Good experience with bioinformatics tools (such as Bioconductor and Biopython), Conda environments, and biomedical data analyses (such as omics, e.g., genotyping and gene expression from next-generation sequencing, pathway/network analyses) are substantial advantages for the position. Skills in software visualization, MATLAB, machine learning and statistics will be preferred. Teaching experience and proficiency in English are mandatory.

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the Division of Rheumatology. We combine clinical, basic and translational research to understand better, treat and prevent autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and myositis. Research groups at the Division investigate immunology, cell biology, genetics, epigenetics, and pharmacogenomics of rheumatic diseases.
Our research group is located at the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM). We study the genetics of autoimmune diseases, pharmacogenetics, comorbidities and disease prognosis using modern high-throughput technologies, extensive data integration and data mining. Both bulk and single-cell technologies are our tools in generating genetic, genomic and proteomic data.
