Do you want to contribute to top quality research?

Your mission

The Brain, Body and Self Laboratory, lead by professor Henrik Ehrsson at the Department of Neuroscience, is now seeking a highly talented, innovative, and enthusiastic researcher with a Ph.D. awarded within the past three years in cognitive neuroscience or in a related discipline to work on the ERC project SELF-UNITY.

The project, which is initially ongoing for 2 years, focuses on neuroimaging experiments on the multisensory experience of one’s body as a whole using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and full-body illusion paradigms.

Our laboratory has expertise in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography, and behavioral approaches (including virtual reality technology). We have access to two state-of-the-art 3-Tesla MRI scanners and one MEG scanner at the Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University (SUBIC).

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in human fMRI neuroscience (preferably multivoxel pattern analyses) and experimental psychology (preferably perception science). Expertise in other imaging methods or psychophysics is a plus.  The candidate is expected to work mainly on the ERC SELF-UNITY project (for more information, please visit www.ehrssonlab.se), but will also have the opportunity to develop their own ideas within the areas of body representation, sense of self, and embodiment. The candidate should independently design and carry out fMRI and behavioural studies on full-body illusion paradigms and write up good first drafts of scientific manuscripts.. Applicants should demonstrate a consistently excellent academic record, including publications in high-quality international scientific journals.
