The postdoc project is a collaboration between the research teams of Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Karin Ekström Smedby and Emma Tham. Richard Rosenquist Brandell is professor in Clinical Genetics and senior physician at Clinical Genetics, Karolinska University Hospital, and Emma Tham is senior researcher and senior physician at Clinical Genetics, Karolinska University Hospital. Their research teams include 16 PhD students, research engineers, postdocs, senior researchers and bioinformaticians. Karin Ekström Smedby is senior lecturer in Clinical Cancer Epidemiology and senior physician at the Hematology Clinic, Karolinska University Hospital. Her research group includes 15 clinical PhD students, postdocs and senior statisticians.

We have a broad network of national and international collaborators and a close collaboration with the Science for Life Laboratory in Solna and Uppsala, which collectively entails access to both clinical material and state-of-the-art next generation sequencing technologies.

Your mission

We are looking for a motivated person with a background in molecular biology and genetics, and an interest to work in the interface of molecular biology and bioinformatics. The work will be focused on analyses of tumors and liquid biopsies generated from lymphoma patients with the aim to improve diagnostics and increase our understanding of disease development and drug resistance. Work tasks will involve various molecular and cell biological techniques as well as analysis of extensive data sets.

Your profile

A PhD in a field related to the position, such as genetics, hematology, biomedicine and biotechnology is required. You should have experience in working with different molecular techniques including PCR, sequencing and also library preparation for next-generation sequencing. Work with ddPCR and bioinformatics is meritorious. You should demonstrate a strong analytic ability and are skillful at organizing your research in terms of planning as well as documenting and reporting your findings. Documented proficiency in regard to writing and communication skills, problem solving and cooperative ability will also be of high relevance for the selection of candidates. Finally, personal qualities will be an important selection criterion.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
