The Linnarsson Lab studies brain development and brain architecture using single-cell analysis, live imaging and spatial transcriptomics. We have now embarked on an ambitious, long-term project to discover an effective treatment for glioblastoma. We develop drug delivery vectors that can pass the blood-brain barrier and target glioblastoma cells specifically. We will use those vectors to kill tumor cells while sparing normal cells, and as a side effect trigger the immune system to eliminate the tumor.

As part of this project, we are developing advanced humanized mouse models, which we will use to screen vector designs in vivo. We will use non-human primates to validate the most promising designs.

Your mission is, 

• Manage a breeding colony of transgenic mice (daily animal care and genotyping are handled by animal core facility staff)
• Ensure compliance with ethics regulations and all legal documentation
• Perform advanced animal experiments, including
  • Grafting CD34+ stem cells into immunodeficient NSG mice
  • Stereotactic surgery for brain injections
  • Transplantation of tumor cells in the brain
  • Injections, blood withdrawal for FACS
  • Perfusion, dissection and tissue preparation for histology
• Perform some experiments in non-human primates (e.g. macaques): e.g. injections, blood withdrawal, perfusion, dissection, preparation of tissue for histology

You will be assisted by our professional animal facility staff, including daily care of animals, veterinary assistance and continuing education for legal and ethical compliance.

Your profile

We’re looking for an experienced researcher, with a PhD in a relevant subject and several years of postdoctoral experience (or equivalent) working with advanced animal models.

You love and respect your animals, and you’re passionate about making the most out of every experiment. Your work is diligent, with attention to detail and an eye for the unexpected. You like learning new techniques and are always looking for improvements. You’re proud of your skills and enjoy working with students and postdocs to help make the overall project a success.
