Unit
The Center for Hematology and Regenerative medicine, HERM is a research unit within the Department of Medicine Huddinge with a focus on translational hematology and immunology. HERM is located in the NEO building and consists of a mix of clinical and preclinical research groups, each with a focus on clinically relevant questions in hematology, stem cell biology and immunology, including basic immunology, immunodeficiency and transfusion immunology.

Research groups
The candidate will work in the research group of Professor Petter Höglund, a translational immunology group working on natural killer (NK) cells, immune responses to platelet transfusions and blood transfusion practices in hematology patients. (https://ki.se/en/medh/petter-hoglund-group) The group is looking for a motivated, well-organized co-worker to serve as lab manager across the group’s various projects.

Responsibilities
The duties in the group are multifaceted. One aspect entail organisational and administrative tasks, keeping track on day-to-day routines, including daily support functions in the lab, administration associated with chemical and biological work, introduction of new members in the group, organization of group meetings and representation of the group within HERM when the group leader is not present. It is expected that the lab manager keeps track of funding possibilities for group members and assists the group leader in communication tasks both internally and with collaborators.

Laboratory work includes all aspects of an immunology lab, such as molecular biology, cell culture and flow cytometry. Advanced FACS experience, including cell sorting, is required and basic knowledge of bioinformatics tools an advantage. Experience from work with both mouse and human cells is necessary. Possibilities for conducting independent projects will be encouraged if time allows.

Qualifications and entry requirements
Applicants must have adequate university education in biomedicine or cell biology. Experience from research environments and from own research projects will be considered an advantage. The successful candidate is very well-organized, responsible and likes to work in a dynamic environment with diverse tasks. The candidate also takes pride in providing service to others. The applicant should have practical experience in standard molecular biology, cell biology and flow cytometry techniques. Good collaborate skills, independence, communication skills and computer skills  re required. Knowledge using bioinformatics tools are considered advantageous. Knowledge of Karolinska Institutet's databases (ELN) and documented documentation skills will be asked for. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required.
