The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching in immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 430 active employees, including 100 PhD students, 50 postdoctoral researchers and 26 professors.
Division
We are seeking an immunologist at the post-doctoral level to work in the team of Professor Karlsson Hedestam at MTC. The group studies B cell-mediated immunity and immunogenetics. For more information about the research, see http://ki.se/research/karlsson-hedestam.
Duties
The project aims to investigate allelic diversity in adaptive immune receptor genes using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) methodology. The group has established protocols and software for analysis of expressed immune repertoires and for inference of adaptive immune receptor germline genes in both humans and non-human species.
Entry requirements
To be qualified for employment as a post-doctoral fellow a doctorate degree (PhD), or equivalent scientific degree, in a relevant subject is required. For the current position, expertise in using genetic and cell-based approaches is required. Prior experience in both human genetics and the use of animal models to study the immune system is desired. Candidates with a strong interest in basic immunology and documented experience in gene expression analysis are prioritized.
