Section for Medical Inflammation Research is searching for a postdoc to work in a project aiming to develop new vaccines for autoimmune diseases led by Prof. Rikard Holmdahl. The task is to investigate how tolerance to cartilage specific proteins are mediated and more specifically the mechanism of action of developed vaccines.

The project
The project aims to understand etiologic and regulatory autoimmune mechanisms of importance for development of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. The work is mainly based on studies on animal models including an established set of genetically modified and humanized strain suitable for the project. Using these models new vaccines will be validated and their mechanisms of action analyzed in detail. It will also include translating the findings to human samples and comparing the data with results from clinical testing.
The overall goal is to develop new vaccines to prevent and cure rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. The aim is to publish the results in leading international journals.
