The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.
Division and research group
The research at the division of Clinical geriatrics is multi-dimensional, mainly focused on neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s disease, and is strongly oriented towards translating findings from basic research into clinical practice. The research group is located at NEO, Karolinska Institutet, Flemingsberg campus. The research is aimed at deciphering the pathophysiological role of Aβ in AD-associated cholinergic dysfunction and design as well as development of the novel in vivo PET tracers for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's and other dementia disorders.
We use a mixed approach of in silico studies and High-throughput enzymatic assays to identify novel drug targets that can be further developed as lead compounds for pre-clinical and clinical studies. In addition, we work with human samples such as brain homogenate, CSF and plasma and use different kinds of biochemistry techniques for protein-protein and protein-ligand interaction studies and CASA system for functional assays. As we are planning to expand our research focus, we are looking for a highly competent senior research coordinator for our research group from 1 January 2019 for a one year position.
Duties
The position is mainly focused on research (70%). The position involves expanding the group’s research focus to other neurodegenerative diseases as well as cancer. The applicant will conduct research in the lab and also help the main PI in the preparation of grant applications and manuscripts. The applicant should have experience in carrying out work tasks both independently and in teams.
The coordinating role (30%) is varied and includes responsibility for
Entry requirements
