The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Division
The Immunology and Allergy division at the Department of Medicine, Solna performs research on different aspect of allergy and autoimmune diseases. Our research group (PI: Eduardo Villablanca) will investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the establishment of intestinal homeostasis and how breakdown of these mechanisms might lead to inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Our group works in an inspiring and interactive research environment at the Karolinska University, Solna and has ongoing collaborative projects with national and international colleagues.

Duties
We are seeking a research assistant for a six months project, with the possibility of six months extension. The main duties include mouse and zebrafish colony management and genotyping. The applicant is expected to have a strong interest in mucosal immunology. The applicant will work in close collaboration with other PhD students, postdocs and researchers. The applicant is expected to actively perform experimental research, using animal models and human samples, and present results to general and specialized audiences.

Entry requirements
Our lab has an opening for a highly creative and motivated research assistant with an interest to perform doctoral studies in the future. We look for a candidate with documented laboratory research experience particularly in mouse models of intestinal inflammation, T cell culture in vitro and multi-parameter flow cytometry in the context of mucosal immunology. The position will require independent work at the laboratory as well as extensive collaboration with clinicians and other experimental groups. Fluency in both oral and written English is necessary. Documented ability to analyze and present results orally and written is important.
