The Thålin research group opens a position for a skilled and ambitious bioinformatician with a passion for discovery and translational immunology. This position is part of an ERC funded cutting-edge research initiative aimed at understanding and leveraging the structure-function relationships of mucosal IgA antibodies to inform the design of next-generation vaccines and therapeutic antibodies. Leveraging our globally unique biobank of human nasal secretions and expanding on our molecular-level characterization of mucosal IgA, we will test recombinant secretory IgA candidates for their ability to safely block respiratory infections through cell-based assays, affinity liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, omics analysis and by leveraging human stem cell-derived nasal and lung organoids. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious scientist to contribute not only to scientific discovery but also to the strategic development of a rapidly expanding research group.
You will work with our existing data set as well as ongoing application and integration of multi-omics approaches, including proteomics and transcriptomics. The position will include close collaborative work with team members across immunology, structural biology, and bioinformatics and within the international network, driving your own projects forward. In addition to leading experimental work, you will play an active role in shaping the strategic direction of the lab. This includes contributing to the scientific vision and strategic planning of ongoing and future projects, assisting in grant application writing, organizing and participating in team meetings, workshops, and collaborations and mentoring of junior researchers.
