The Rydén and Mejhert lab aims to understand how alterations in human white adipocyte function are related to cardiometabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Our group consists of 15-20 members (senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD/master students, and technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.
Your mission
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work independently on a project in our creative environment. Your project will aim to understand how proteins associated with type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease regulate human white adipocyte function. This will entail a number of state-of-the-art approaches ranging from handling clinical samples, advanced cell biology work, functional studies of fat cells and bioinformatic analyses.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
Experience in common cell and molecular biology approaches, such as cloning, cell culture gene editing, and confocal microscopy, is meritorious. It is a clear strength if the applicant has bioinformatic knowledge and is proficient in R, Python or similar. It is expected that the candidate should be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement.
