The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The Department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: cardiovascular medicine, allergy, and inflammatory diseases.
The current position is advertised by the Division of Cardiology at the Department of Medicine Solna which conducts clinical, epidemiological and experimental research as well as education.
The selected researcher will contribute to the understanding of the molecular and cellular processes underlying vascular and cardiac dysfunction in the context of obesity, diabetes and associated metabolic disease. A major part of the project will be to identify detrimental epigenetic/transcriptomic signatures eliciting oxidative and inflammatory changes. These objectives will be accomplished by a translational approach focused to characterizing cardiovascular phenotypes through novel technologies, genetically-engineered animal models and clinical studies. The candidate will work on experiments to decipher novel molecular networks, perform statistical analyses and writing reports or manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will be also engaged in teaching and supervising PhD and MD students, as well as in writing applications for funding. This is a temporary full-time position.
To be eligible for employment as a post-doc, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, in Biomedicine (or an equivalent scientific degree), the candidate must have demonstrated research, teaching as well as development and collaborative skills.

The position is located within the research group of Prof. Francesco Cosentino, focusing on the link between environmental factors, metabolic disease and premature cardiovascular disease.
