Your mission
To be a postdoctoral researcher means to devote oneself to research. This position is including supervision of students, teaching, and administrative duties. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the group of Associate Professor Dhifaf Sarhan as a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on projects concerning the sex-immune dimorphism in the tumor microenvironment of solid tumors. The position is based at ANA Futura at Karolinska Institutet, Flemingsberg Campus and in collaboration with the Centre for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CBB). The Centre for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CBB) is a virtual centre located at the Karolinska Institutet’s (KI's) Campus Flemingsberg. The centre offers expertise and scientific networking opportunities to the pre-clinical and clinical research environment. Activities of the centre include mentoring for early-stage researchers (PhD students and postdocs), support for project planning and grant writing, as well as seminars and discussion groups around bioinformatics and biostatistics methods and their application to biomedical data.
Through collaborations with clinicians and core facilities, basic and translational researcher, we have access to new world class unique infrastructure for developing new therapeutic strategies and studying the efficacy and safety of novel treatments in a translational setting and later in clinical trials.
Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
We invite applications from outstanding candidates with a strong background in the field of tumor microenvironment/immunology/immunotherapy combined with bioinformatic analysis skills. We are interested in individuals with a good track-record in the mentioned fields. The candidate should be creative, highly motivated and that aim to establish world leading research with a clear focus in the field of immunotherapy against cancer incorporating potential clinical value and patient outcomes.
Preferably, the applicant should have experience working with cell/tissue processing techniques, flow cytometry and analysis of flow cytometric data. Good cooperation, independence, communication skills, and bioinformatics and biostatistical skills are required including
- Experiences in bioinformatics data analysis
- Experiences in applying bioinformatics methods to analyse data including expression, genome sequence, epigenomics or metagenomics data
- Experiences in using R or python for data analysis are a plus. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required.
A successful applicant will preferably start working during the spring 2022 but the exact timing and details of the position is open for discussion. This employment as postdoc is limited to 1 year with a possibility for extension to a maximum of 3 years.
